Yesterday, CCP Games held their much-anticipated Directors’ Chat, unveiling the roadmap for EVE Online in 2025. It was an hour-long deep dive into what’s coming next, but if you don’t have time to watch the full show, my friend Kane Carnifex from Justabout.com’s EVE Community has put together a handy 4 minutes recap, highlighting all the key features we can expect.
Two Expansions and Major Changes for Capsuleers
CCP is doubling down on player-driven content in 2025, with two major expansions planned. The first one, set for summer, continues the Revenant narrative arc and introduces new mechanics for corporations to shape sovereign space. This means more tools for alliances to define their own territories, set their own rules, and actively influence the sandbox experience. We’re finally seeing sovereignty evolve into something more dynamic, where power is shaped by capsuleers, not just timers and structures.

Another massive addition is Freelance Projects, a system that enables pilots to create and complete missions made by other players (outside the corporation). This is huge. EVE players have been running mercenary contracts, logistics jobs, and bounty hunts outside the game for years, relying on trust, reputation, and spreadsheets to get things done. Now, these activities will have proper in-game tools, making the sandbox even richer.
And, of course, we have the usual suspects—new ships, and more tools for fleets of all sizes.
The Return of EVE Fanfest 2025
For many, the biggest highlight isn’t just the expansions—it’s the return of EVE Fanfest to Reykjavík’s Harpa Concert Hall, happening May 1-3. If you’ve never been to Fanfest, you’re missing out on something special. Last summer, I had a chance to meet CCP Burger in Cologne during Devcom, and we talked about how vital this event is for the EVE Online community. It’s more than just announcements and panels—it’s a gathering of the most dedicated pilots, where stories are shared, rivalries are settled over beers, and friendships are forged.

What’s Next?
Beyond the expansions and Fanfest, fan-favorite events like Capsuleer Day celebrating 22th anniversary. And Alliance Tournament for those who crave high-level competition (check out my XX Tournament report!).
With all these upcoming changes, it’s clear that CCP is fully embracing player agency and projects. EVE Online has always thrived on emergent gameplay, and 2025 looks like a year that will elevate that to new levels.
As for me, I’ll be sharing a special coverage post soon, reflecting on my past Fanfest experiences—expect lots of photos, emotions, and the raw vibes of what it means to be part of the EVE community.
Stay tuned!
