The latest news around EVE Online is honestly shocking — and no, I’m not even talking about the ongoing Fanfest announcements that are about to hit the stage. The changes are so huge and meaningful that I don’t have proper time to process them as an analyst yet, or to give you the broader view and different angle I usually try to bring here on kekbur.net. I will return to them properly, but for now, in case you missed it, let me put the recent madness in chronological order so you can feel the scale.
- On April 6, the Battle of Atioth in Geminate brought a massive 5,000 vs 7,000 pilot clash, with almost 10 trillion ISK turned into dust.
- On April 13, CONCORD and AIR announced Exordium, a new space region built around rookie systems, special suspect mechanics, and a few other rules. You could call it a newbie paradise, or at least an attempt to make the first steps into New Eden a little less… brutal.
- On April 17, Alix Moreau was elected President of the Gallente Federation. Some say it was rigged. But I feel this event triggered the chain of events we are seeing now, with tensions between Gallente and Caldari escalating into open war and affecting New Eden on every level.
- On April 21, the gates into Jita were damaged, followed by the CONCORD takeover of Jita on May 12. Funny enough, back in April I posted a humorous ad: “Screw Jita, go to Hek.” Apparently, that trailer was not a joke, but a prophecy of the future. Check out the video, and subscribe for more content like this.
- On April 28, CCP launched the latest PLEX For Good donation campaign.
- On April 30, the Capsuleer Day XXIII: Warpath new awesome in-game event was announced.
- On May 6, the anniversary of EVE Online also became the beginning of a new era for CCP Games. The studio became free from Pearl Abyss after a 120 million dollar buyout, and at the same time rebranded from CCP Games to Fenris Creations. You can read Hilmar’s post about it here: A New Era.
- And then, on May 10, we got the historic kill — the biggest single kill in EVE Online history: a 1.5 trillion ISK Crane gank.
I will definitely come back to all of this, probably with the latest Fanfest 2026 additions and maybe reframed after a direct talk with the developers.
Fanfest 2026 is live
The event has just started and will raid Reykjavik, Iceland from May 15 to May 17. Sadly, this year I didn’t make it there in person, but… my message will still reach Harpa. If you are there, you might get a chance to see my “This is EVE” tribute trailer on the big screen. Check it out here.
The video was also featured in the latest Community Beat, so yes — more fame to the KEKBUR!
I’m really thrilled to see what Fanfest brings us, and hopefully I’ll be able to glimpse behind the scenes, talk to Fenris Creations, and get some of the “whys” behind all this chaos.
Besides that, in a few days I will be announcing a new project dedicated to the EVE Online community. I’ve been working on it for the last several months, which is also the reason why I’ve been a bit low profile lately. So stay tuned.
With that, I’m done for today and heading back to Fenris Creations’ Twitch channel to watch the Fanfest 2026 live broadcast.
