Everwind enters Early Access tomorrow, March 17, marking the first public step for Enjoy Studio’s voxel sandbox RPG after several years in development, with the game launching on Steam. According to the developers’ announcement, Early Access will be used to expand the game’s systems, biomes, and story while gathering community feedback.
For me, Everwind already holds a small badge of honor. At Gamescom 2025, it scored 2 out of 5 in the KekBur’s Gamescom Awards, landing in both Most Wanted Game and Standout Indie. After playing the demo and speaking with the developers, it quickly climbed high on my personal wishlist.
Early Access Roadmap
The team shared a development roadmap outlining the major pillars planned for Early Access.

One thing missing from the roadmap is specific dates, but honestly that’s understandable for a small indie team. Development timelines can shift quickly when the studio is relatively small and ambitious with its ideas.
What is interesting is the long-term goal:
Enjoy Studio is targeting a full release in Q1 2027.
That roughly means about a year in Early Access — which, in today’s standards, almost sounds fast. Hear that, Valheim?
Editions and Early Access Bonuses
Enjoy Studio also detailed the Early Access editions and bonuses available at launch. Supporters will receive several extra items and perks depending on the edition purchased.
For players who already know they want to support the project, these bundles are essentially a way to back the development early while getting some additional cosmetic or gameplay goodies along the way.

A World Built Around Exploration and Creativity
When I spoke with the developers last year, one theme kept repeating: Everwind is designed to reward curiosity.
The voxel world is made of floating islands filled with secrets, handcrafted locations, and procedural exploration elements. During our interview, the team emphasized that they want players to feel like they are constantly discovering something new rather than simply following quest markers.

Several design ideas stood out from that conversation:
- The world is intentionally structured around vertical exploration across floating islands.
- Combat and character builds allow for multiple playstyles, including agile melee setups.
- Co-op is a core pillar rather than a secondary feature.
That last point especially caught my attention.
A Tough Release Window
The Early Access launch also comes at a brutally competitive moment. Just three days later, on March 20, Crimson Desert from Pearl Abyss is scheduled to release — a massive open-world RPG often described as a mix of Breath of the Wild–style exploration and Skyrim-scale storytelling.
It’s very possible the audiences overlap.
But that’s exactly why these first days matter so much for smaller studios.
My First Experience with Everwind
During the Steamfest demo, I played Everwind in four-player co-op with my family, and we ended up clearing every island available in the demo zone. We pushed the characters to the max level allowed in that build, exploring every corner we could find.
Personally, I fell in love with dual daggers — fast, aggressive, and extremely satisfying when clearing skeleton packs. Below you can see my raw gameplay from the demo build where I go full rogue mode and shred through enemies solo.
Why Early Support Matters
If Everwind interests you, consider picking it up early even if you don’t plan to dive in immediately.
For indie teams, the first days of an Early Access launch can determine the long-term trajectory of the project — influencing visibility on Steam and helping secure continued support from publishers like Bohemia Interactive.
And after speaking with the developers, I know they have a long list of ambitious ideas they want to implement during Early Access.
Hopefully the launch gives them the momentum needed to make those ideas reality.
