Introduction
As patch 0.5 in Nightingale landed 5 days ago, the next day I managed to reach the Watch and the Vaults. While there aren’t many people out there, it’s very hard to find a group for 5-man raids. So, I decided to go in alone for a world-first kill. As a result of my success, I’ve created this solo guide for those who struggle to kill the Fabled Sun Giant Raid boss in the Desert Vault.
Table of Contents
Step 1: Preparation
- Gear Up: Ensure you have the best gear possible. In my run, only three items were decent, while the rest were starter gear, so it’s possible with less than perfect equipment. Aim to have at least 200 magic attack on your gear. If you have more or are in a group, the fight will be faster.
- Spells Needed: Equip two crucial spells: Immolation and Summon Swarm. These are essential for managing the boss’s phases and avoiding damage.
- Food: For phase 2, use stamina and stamina regen food to cast more Immolations. HP is not important at the current gear level, as his attacks will one-shot you. Your goal is to avoid damage, not mitigate it.

Step 2: Starting the Fight
- Positioning: Find a spot that keeps you out of the boss’s line of sight to avoid his meteor attacks. In my experience, ground-level LoS wasn’t entirely effective. The best place to hide is a platform behind the boss; high-ground LoS is the most efficient. This will help avoid the adds later in phase 2 and give you a vantage point to attack the boss safely.
- Initial Damage: Begin by applying the Swarm spell to inflict a damage-over-time effect on the boss. This will allow you to chip away at his health while staying out of direct danger.

Step 3: Managing Phase 1
- Reapply Swarm: Keep reapplying the Swarm DoT every 30-40 seconds until the boss reaches 50% HP. This consistent damage will help whittle down his health without risking too much exposure.
- Stay Careful: The boss can still hit you occasionally. Apply your Swarm only after the boss finishes his attack animation. This gives you a 2-second window to get in sight before he manages to lock onto you for his attacks. If you’re in a group, be extra cautious, as he can target and wipe areas where players are standing. Play slow; do not try to cast more than needed.

Step 4: During Phase 2
- Phase Change: At 50% HP, the boss will enter phase 2. He’ll stop using meteor attacks and start summoning Fabled adds, making the ground level dangerous. This is when you need to start using Immolation.
- Use Immolation: Now that the boss has transitioned, use Immolation to add to your damage output. Do not charge the spell, as it will significantly reduce your DPS output! Combine this with your previous strategy of using Swarm to keep up the pressure. This will speed up the fight and bring him closer to defeat. You can also use ranged weapons here.
- A Few Words on Stamina Regen: My recommendation is to cast spells until you have 0 stamina, and then wait until you have a full bar before casting again. Stamina has 2 modes of regenerating, and it regens much faster if you do not cast any spells for 3 seconds. Also, stay rested.
- Reposition if Needed: If you accidentally fall or die, the adds are slow enough for you to reposition safely. Use this time to get back into a favorable position.
Step 5: Loot!
After Fabled Sun Giant is down, enjoy the loot! Check out what drops you get and how it can improve your gear for future Solo Runs.

I don’t know if Inflexion Games will fix this; it’s not as easy as it might look. Reaching the boss deserves a separate walk-through guide. The fight is long and complex, and any mistake leads to death, so in my opinion, it is still challenging.
