One Year of Kekbur.net

Turns out, today is the blog’s first anniversary — and I almost forgot! The reason is simple: Gamescom 2025 coverage is in full swing, and with so many interviews in production my focus has been everywhere else. If you missed it, you can find everything inside the Gamescom Special Coverage.

What started as a “Plan B” to gather my longreads has grown into something bigger. A year in, the site has become home to interviews, reviews, guides, photo tours, and more. The average users’ session now runs over 10 minutes, which to me is proof that people still enjoy reading and storytelling, not just fast fact-dumps or short-form reels. The most active community has been the EVE Galaxy Conquest players, and you guys deserve a special shout-out for keeping the discussions alive.

KEKBUR.net is fully indie, which brings a unique kind of freedom, but it also means wearing every hat myself. From keeping servers running and designing the site to research, writing, photography, video editing, interviews, and social media, every piece is done in-house. It’s a lot, but it keeps the vision intact — and each post sharpens my skills.

This week also brought another milestone: 100 subscribers on YouTube. Video was never my main medium, but it’s become part of the fun — now sitting alongside writing, photography, interviews, and event coverage. I’ve already tried a variety of formats, so I picked a personal top 5 worth checking out.

And this is just the start. I have a lot of projects lined up: the Gamescom tour was not just about interviews, but also about making new connections. It’s time to dive back into hardware teardowns and reviews, game coverage, and some behind-the-scenes insights I’ve been saving. So stay tuned — year two is going to be even more exciting.
