Top 5 Takeaways: Holo Egg Event, Maller, Season News

Intro

With a new Holo Egg Forge Easter event live, recruitment missions rotating, and a brand-new ship entering the battlefield, I figured it’s time for a quick digest covering everything happening in EVE Galaxy Conquest right now.

In this post, you’ll find a recap of ongoing Season 3 action on both servers, news on the freshly launched Easter event, a first look at the controversial new Maller ship, and a deep dive into whether it’s worth spending your Nova Kredits during this cycle.

If you’re wondering where to put your resources or just enjoy a bit of salt with your patch notes – this one’s for you.

Ongoing Season 3 – Clash, Control, and Survival

As I’m writing this, one of my bases is literally under siege and about to be captured. My relocation is on cooldown, nor have any meaningful fleets left to defend myself. So… expect some “Hostage Diaries” content soon.

Season 3 is progressing steadily on both active servers, with around 6 days left until the Jita unlock. On Server #3001, the dominant force is clearly ReForged – a well-organized corporation that’s been sweeping through null systems and securing high-value assets. But what’s more impressive than their military strength is their strategic map planning. It echoes what I wrote in a previous post: with great power comes great responsibility.

In short, if you’re too strong, it’s no longer about painting the whole map your color. You also need to manage your enemies, to keep the season engaging. ReForged seems to understand that – just like in Season 2, they’re already working on ways to ensure fair and entertaining late-season gameplay for everyone.

On Server #3002 (seriously, would it hurt the devs to give these servers actual names?), we’re seeing a three-way power clash. The Amarrian Imperium, K1R Imperium from Minmatar, and No Mercy from the Caldari State have all entered null space through different gates and are now colliding in a balanced and dynamic struggle for dominance. It feels like one of the rare moments where the game design and player behavior align beautifully.

If they manage to keep negotiating and beating each other, there’s a real shot at creating a competitive yet healthy environment for everyone involved.

…Except me. I’m getting captured with 25k influence and no way out. Cheers.

New Season Servers and Merges Incoming

Yesterday marked the start of Season 2 for servers #50 through #54, all merged into a new server. Good luck to everyone out there – and hopefully, the lessons from Season 1 stick this time around.

Looking ahead, on April 25, servers 2005, 2006, and 2007 are expected to merge into a new Season 3 server… or servers? That little ‘s’ at the end of “server(s)” sparked quite a debate on Discord. Nobody’s sure yet if the devs plan a full three-way merge or a more complex split.

One of my humble alts is on Server 2005, which is home to a powerhouse corp called Matrix. They’ll likely be reinforced by active commanders from Syndicate and other strong groups post-merge.

If any of you reading this are from those servers – kudos, and welcome aboard. You might want to check out this handy Season Fleets Start Guide if you haven’t already.

Holo Egg Easter Game Event Launch

Today, CCP Games launched a new limited-time event to celebrate Easter! Running from April 17 to May 6, this 3-week celebration introduces a variety of festive activities where players can earn rewards, unlock ships, grab a Homebase SKIN, and dive into an epic interstellar adventure (or so they called it).

At the moment, I’m still collecting details on all the event mechanics and rewards. A full event overview is in the works and will be posted soon – so make sure to subscribe if you don’t want to miss it.

First Take on the Maller – Tank or Troll?

A new toy (or weapon, depending on your point of view) is always exciting news! I’ve already updated my ship stats post and added the Maller to the table. Right now, I’m pulling with all my alts with hopes to get my hands on it, eager to explore its potential and rank it in my ship tier list.

At first glance, the Maller looks… strange. It might find its niche in some fleet compositions if all the talents and module effects work as described. It’s a confusing blend of barrage modules and buffs tied to active commander talents, but time will tell how viable that is.

Maller Stats: A Tank in Name Only

If you’ve never played EVE Online but googled the Maller, you’d find it’s known as an iconic tank cruiser – used for baiting or heavy tackling in PvP. It’s a flying brick. You can fit three armor plates and push it to 135k EHP, something many battleships can’t even reach. Here’s what my typical PVP Maller fit looks like:

Meanwhile, in EVE Galaxy Conquest, the Maller is about as durable as a wet napkin. It comes with 3,800 HP and 6 armor – less than many basic ships. In terms of durability, it ranks 34th out of 38 ships. It’s like CCP Games took the original Maller concept and did the exact opposite.

And it’s not just the stats – they even lifted the ship description straight from EVE Online:

Quite possibly the toughest cruiser in the galaxy, the Maller is a common sight in Amarrian Imperial Navy operations. It is mainly used for military duty, although a few can be found in the private sector acting as escort ships for very important dispatches. Maller, Eve Wiki

Which makes it even more ironic.

If CCP wanted a ship with low HP, decent drones, and utility through EWAR (or “control and debuff” in EGC terms), they already had the Arbitrator model. So here’s the thing:

  • want a Maller model? Give us a triple-plated flying space brick.
  • want to bring these flimsy stats and oddly named modules like “Crushing Hammer” and “Matter Annihilation Bomb” – then just slap it into Arby.

Also, it looks like the Maller will follow the same path as the Hyperion – a limited-time event ship that won’t be added to the recruit missions. So if you want it in your hangar, now’s the time to act.

Event Pull Math – Maximize Your Nova Kredits

I’m not here to give advice, just sharing how I crunch the numbers and make my own calls when it comes to spending Nova Kredits. This approach isn’t just about this specific event – it applies to any situation where you need to decide how to spend resources, whether it’s a seasonal cache or an event recruitment.

Right now, the game is running the “Nemesis of the Amarr III” recruitment mission, which will last for another 1.5 days. It features several key commanders I highlighted in both my Season 1 top fleets post and Season 2 meta update, so it’s definitely relevant for those chasing competitive setups.

How to Use Your Nova Kredits Efficiently

Let’s say I have 30,000 Nova Kredits and want to spend them wisely. Here’s how I break it down.

Step 1 – Count the Happy Outcomes

First, I open the recruitment list and check the legendaries. I count how many I genuinely want – let’s call these “desirable outcomes.”

I suspect.., equips tinfoil hat and whispers conspiratorially …the drop rates aren’t perfectly even (I’ve pulled Cerb, Flaherty, Dramiel, and Scythes about 15 times each and still lack many others in mt collection), but let’s assume the drop rate is fair and all legendaries have equal chances.

  • Nemesis of the Amarr III: Offers 9 legendaries. I want 3 of them – Chelm, Falek, Karishal. That gives me a 3/9 or 33.33% chance to get something I want per legendary drop.
Lineup of legendary commanders and ships from Nemesis of the Amarr III recruitment mission
  • Holo Egg Forge: Offers 8 legendaries. I only want 1 – the Maller. (Victor is okay but available in both events, so let’s skip him). That gives me a 1/8 or 12.5% chance for something useful.

Step 2 – Understand Drop Rates and Apply to Desired Outcomes

According to confirmation from community sources, event missions follow regular recruitment mechanics:

  • 5.32% chance per pull to get a legendary
  • 100% chance on 30 consecutive pulls (pity mechanic)

So we apply that to our desirable outcomes:

  • Nemesis of the Amarr III:
    5.32% * (3/9) = 1.77% chance per pull for a desired legendary
  • Holo Egg Forge:
    5.32% * (1/8) = 0.665% chance per pull for a desired legendary

Step 3 – Factor in Budget and Pity Mechanics

With 30,000 Nova Kredits, and a cost of 1,880 per 5-pull (or 376 per pull), I can afford exactly 75 pulls.

Now let’s estimate the total chances using both regular drops and pity:

Regular Probability Over 75 Pulls (No Pity)

Using the chance of not getting the desired drop in one pull, we can calculate the chance of getting at least one:

  • Nemesis of the Amarr III:
    Chance to not get desired = 1 – 0.0177 = 0.9823
    Over 75 pulls = 0.9823^75 ≈ 26.2% chance to get nothing, so
73.8% chance to get at least one of Chelm, Falek, or Karishal
  • Holo Egg Forge:
    Chance to not get desired = 1 – 0.00665 = 0.99335
    Over 75 pulls = 0.99335^75 ≈ 60.3% chance to get nothing, so
39.7% chance to get at least one Maller
With Pity Mechanic (2 Guaranteed Legendaries)

With 75 pulls, you get 2 guaranteed legendaries from the pity system (at 30 and 60 draws).

  • Nemesis of the Amarr III:
    2 guaranteed * (3/9) = 0.666 (66.6%) expected desired drops from pity alone
  • Holo Egg Forge:
    2 guaranteed * (1/8) = 0.25 (25%) expected desired drops from pity

So in both cases, you can stack pity with your natural drops, which slightly increases your total chance (but doesn’t change the fact that Nemesis has a much higher expected value for your budget).

Final Verdict

So there you have it. If you’ve got 30k Nova Kredits and know exactly what you want from both recruitment missions, the math speaks clearly:

  • Nemesis of the Amarr III gives you nearly double the odds of getting what you want compared to Holo Egg Forge.
  • If your goal is to get the Maller no matter what, then gamble away in the Holo Egg Forge.
  • But if you value useful commanders and broader utility – Nemesis is the smarter play.

Here’s the visual comparison of your recruitment options:

Bar graph comparing legendary drop chances from Nemesis of the Amarr III and Holo Egg Forge
  • Blue bars show the chance of getting at least one desirable legendary through regular pulls.
  • Orange bars show the expected number of desirable legendaries you’ll get via the pity mechanic.

Just a note: this is my example — your wishlist might be totally different. Feel free to plug in your own targets and budget using the same math.

Closing Words

So that wraps up this brief overview of the Easter event, the new Maller ship, and a bit of number-crunching to help guide your buying decisions. Hope you found something useful in it!

Hey! Never considered you were in my server. Good post, as always. I appreciate these write-ups on a game I’ve been craving content for.

  2. Thanks. Well, not all characters are powerful each season, but I need these to have higher chances of getting certain ships and commanders or access to a broader source of information and logs

More power to you. The war over at 3002 has been so intense I’ve had to (permanently?) abandon my s2 characters, just cannot keep up anymore.

      1. I feel you, had these moments too! And it’s always hard for me to decide: should I go in the frontlines or create new content 🤔
