Why Goat Simulator: Remastered Is Worth the Replay
Goat Simulator: Remastered has arrived, and I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia mixed with a dash of absurd excitement. It’s wild to think it’s been 10 years since we first experienced the joy of headbutting our way through GoatVille. Back then, it was all about pure chaos – no complicated storylines or intricate missions, just you, a goat, and the power to wreak havoc. And honestly, that was all we ever needed.

This remastered version, aptly titled “Goat Simulator: Remastered,” brings us back to that gloriously ridiculous chaos – but with a shiny new coat of paint, or should i say – skin?! And let me tell you, the upgraded visuals are stunning. Coffee Stain Publishing has given a fresh, updated look, complete with enhanced lighting, textures, and beautiful new foliage. It’s just enough to make you pause for a second and admire the scenery… before you run straight into an NPC and launch them into space.
Preserving the Original Absurdity with New Twists
The best part of this remaster is that it doesn’t feel like it’s strayed from the original formula that made it such a cult favorite. I still remember those evenings spent laughing with my kids over just how random and nonsensical it all was – and thankfully, all those absurdities have been preserved. The bugs? Oh, they’re still here. In fact, the team loves them so much they made sure to keep them in. That’s what I love about Goat Simulator: there’s always this sense of embracing the chaos, imperfections and all.

Now, the game has packed in all the original DLCs, plus a previously mobile-exclusive map called “Buck to School”. I think that’s what sets this remaster apart. Not only are we getting GoatVille and all the classic maps like “Waste of Space” and “PAYDAY”, but we also get to experience a little something that wasn’t part of the main game before. For those of us who missed out on the mobile content, it’s like finding a hidden bonus level from our childhood.

I’ve been especially enjoying the new mutator menu (Similar what we have in Goat 3). Back in the day, switching abilities was always a hassle – you’d have to back out to the main menu, and it really interrupted the flow of the chaos. Now, it’s streamlined; you can quickly switch between different “goat-modes” and get back to headbutting everything in sight. Honestly, I love the tongue-in-cheek approach they’ve taken with these features.
And let’s not forget the nostalgia factor. The original Goat Simulator was such a moment in time. It launched during an era when gaming was becoming more serious, competitive, and precise – and then here comes this goofy goat game that absolutely refused to take itself seriously. It was a reminder of why we fell in love with video games in the first place. To have fun, to explore without rules, and to laugh – even if it’s just at a goat doing a front flip over a bunch of terrified NPCs.

The remaster keeps that spirit alive, but with the kind of visual polish and quality-of-life improvements that we’ve grown accustomed to over the past decade. Seeing Pilgor (main protagonist) back in action, it’s almost like meeting an old friend you haven’t seen in years – except they’ve gotten a major face-lift.
Embracing Nostalgia and Welcoming New Players
If you’re like me and you spent a lot of time in 2014 just messing around in GoatVille, then Goat Simulator: Remastered is going to be a pure nostalgia trip. For those of you who may be new to the goat life – well, welcome aboard the weirdest ride of your life. There’s nothing quite like being a goat and causing absolute mayhem, and I’m genuinely excited that a whole new generation of players will get to experience it now.
Also, if you’re interested in more behind-the-scenes details, be sure to check out my interview with Joel Rydholm where we dive deep into what went into creating this remaster and keeping that classic goat chaos alive. And a little background why this project is very spacial for me and my family.
So, grab your controller or mouse, unleash your inner goat, and get ready to lick, flip, and headbutt your way through this remastered adventure. It’s time to make NPCs nervous again, and honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
