How to Get T4 Essences in Nightingale: Top 3 Efficient Farming Methods

Introduction

In this guide, you will learn how to get up to 1,500 T4 Essences per hour in Nightingale using efficient farming strategies. The guide is designed for Realmwalkers who have progressed into endgame content and wish to maximize their efficiency. If you’ve just reached the Watch, you might want to check my Beginner’s Tier 4 Essence Farming Guide, which is tailored for those without the proper gear to face challenges at the highest difficulty levels. All guides are updated to the latest version of the game, which is patch 0.5.1.

How to Farm Tier 4 Essences

The theory behind farming essences is covered in my Ultimate Essences Guide. If you want to learn the locations where T4 essences drop, definitely check that out. In this guide, we’ll go deeper into actual tactics. Here are my top 3 methods for farming T4 essences:

  • Running Apex Vaults in the Watch with random groups
  • Full clearing of Ascended realms on Explorer (easy) difficulty
  • Partial clearing of Ascended realms on Nightmare difficulty

Other methods like fishing or solo Vault runs are not as efficient or require very specific gear.

Method 1: Running Apex Vaults in the Watch

This is the most obvious way to start farming T4 essences. As more players reach the Watch and optimize their builds, these runs become smoother.

However, I found this method to be less effective overall. A typical run takes 12-15 minutes, and with active looting and using the Charm of Essence, you can get around 125 essences per run. That translates to roughly 500 Tier 4 essences per hour.

The benefit of this method is the short session time and minimal preparation. If you have 15-20 minutes to spare, you can jump into a portal, complete a run, and earn some essences.

Method 2: Running Ascended Realms on Explorer Difficulty

In Nightingale, Explorer difficulty is considered “easy” and scales Ascended realms to level 67. This method is similar to the Tier 3 farming strategy.

  1. Load the Gloom realm for more encounters.
  2. Use the Minor Blood Moon Eminent Card for beefier enemy spawns and constant night.
  3. Nuke enemies with AoE spells or attacks. The Charm of Essence will give you 1 extra essence every 3 kills.

Whisps can give you 3-10 essences, and on this difficulty, you can one-shot them with a Rifle or the Immolate spell. I recommend skipping non-combat encounters, as they only yield 7-9 essences and take 2-3 minutes to complete. Also visit a bunker, the encounters gives you 90 essences plus whisps and everything in between can give you another 20-30, all for roughly 5 minute run.

With this method, you can expect around 900 Tier 4 essences per hour, depending on realm layout, gear, and build. You can go normal difficulty, but mobs HP increase will not offset the extra gains from Non-combat encounters.

Method 3: Running Ascended Realms on Nightmare Difficulty

This method involves setting the difficulty to level 220 and avoiding combat entirely. Here’s how you can maximize your performance:

  1. Bring a Crude Remote Realmic Transmuter and drop the Trickster Minor Card for low gravity, allowing you to escape combat easily.
  2. Avoid combat as much as possible, as even with 130 gear, simple wolf packs have millions of HP and take 5 minutes to kill for only 4-5 essences a.k.a waste of time.
  3. Focus on the following encounters: Insight, Agility, Intellect, and Aid.

Encounters have internal difficulty. For example, in an Intelligence encounter, you need to tap crystals in the correct order: 3 for easy, 5 for medium, and 7 for hard. Here’s a breakdown of the essences you can earn from each encounter on Nightmare difficulty depending on difficulty:

  1. Agility: 25 / 50 / 100
  2. Intelligence: 25 / 50 / 100
  3. Insight: 25 / 50 / 100
  4. Aid: 100

Just a few seconds, and you get x50 Tier 4 Essences!

For the Aid encounter, bring rocks, sticks, a few ingots, fibers, wood, and planks. Since you’re running the Trickster card, these materials will be hard to find in the realm, so it’s better to gather them before entering. No worries—once you receive the reward, you can demolish the structures and reuse the materials for another Aid encounter!

A hard Agility encounter can yield 100 essences in just 1 minute. To maximize your performance, I recommend having at least 400 stamina and crafting gear focused on:

  • Running speed
  • Stealth rating
  • HP pool (in that order of priority)

For charms, Charm of the Wanderer, Charm of the Raven, and Charm of Wind will help you traverse quickly, as navigation takes up most of your time. From my experience, the Herbarium Ascended Card offers the most non-combat encounters.

With this method, you can expect up to 1,500 Tier 4 essences per hour, which is 3 times more than running Apex Vaults. As a bonus, you’ll explore many beautiful procedurally generated worlds—maybe even find one you’d like to move your base to! (Yes, it’s possible to reduce the difficulty level down.)

Final Thoughts

Each method has its pros and cons, and I recommend trying them all to avoid burnout from monotonous farming. Let me know in the comments if you’ve found other efficient ways to farm Tier 4 essences. For now, happy farming, and ta-ta!
